The Vision of Noor Hope Foundation
The Noor Hope Foundation, founded in 2021, is a nonprofit organization created by former Afghan resident, Nooria Andeshmand, now based in the United States who have deep concerns about their beloved former country and the people living there.
Afghanistan is a strategically located, landlocked country. In the spring of 1978, after a coup within the Afghanistan government supported by the USSR, many Afghans resisted communist forces. However, in December of 1978, the USSR invaded Afghanistan. Two million Afghans were killed by the soldiers of the USSR and there was no peace.
Since the turmoil started over four decades ago, the country and peoples of Afghanistan have rarely had a chance to catch their breath. Interference from neighboring countries and religious factions exploited the country based on its own needs. The country became the center of bloodshed and exploitation with a cost paid by the lives of men, women and children.
Miseries and atrocities continued; after the American-led coalition withdrew its military and humanistic support, the Taliban returned for a second time in 2021. Prior international humanitarian help had assisted in the development of the fabric of social life including health, and education for women. Most of the world’s countries did not recognize the Taliban and withdrew aid.
The consequences were devastating as the population became more vulnerable and destitute: homelessness, joblessness, hunger, collapse of education for girls and women, and other hardships.
Over time, conflict created more widows and orphans. Some women formerly had jobs and provided for their families, but now the Taliban no longer allows women to work—with few exceptions. Because of a lack of opportunities for families, some are forced to even sell their children.
The Noor Hope Foundation has information about families living very far from cities. Because they cannot afford to rent a house, they are sharing tents with other families. Children as young as seven have to find a jobs to earn food for their families.
Noor Hope Foundation has volunteers in Kabul and in the northeast part of Afghanistan, who distribute donations to families with dire needs.
· We have set the primary goal to assist families so their children can go to school instead of work or beg.
· We cover rent, food and medicine for those in need.
· We dig wells for areas that don’t have water.
· We make payments to families that are very old, sick or lack breadwinners.
· We opened a small home-schooling project in the north in Badakhshown Province for girls to learn to read and write.
· We bought a pair of sewing machines for several families to make reusable bags and other items to sell.
· We plan to create more jobs for families to become independent.
We hold the people of Afghanistan in our hearts and want to do all that we can for them.
Every dollar that Noor Hope Foundation receives goes to the peoples of Afghanistan since we do not have any management cost and executive payroll. We are 501(c)(3) every donation is tax deductible.
